How to Festival - Your Guide to GIFF

Beach Screenings

Shows start at dusk, but good spots go fast. Get there early!

  • The marked-off area in front of the screen is the chair-free zone.

  • If you bring a chair, make sure it’s low-profile as a courtesy to others.

  • Mosquitoes are rare, but sometimes put in a cameo appearance, so be prepared.

  • Bring layers as it may get chilly at night.

  • Please respect other people’s space.

  • Please respect the beach and keep it clean. No dogs allowed.

Feature & Short Films at Venues

  • Plan ahead! We have a diverse selection of films, workshops, Q&As, and other events held at many different venues in Gimli. Make a list of the ones which interest you the most and create a personal schedule.

  • Stop by our Box Office! Here you can pick up a program, view our schedule, or ask any questions about the festival! Find us in Tara’s Corner at the Lakeview Resort!

  • Be sustainable! Bring a reusable water bottle which can be filled at all of our screening venues.

  • Dress Comfortably! Weather may vary and venues will have different temperatures. Layers which can be easily removed are a great way to prepare for this.

  • Stay open minded! The festival is a great environment to watch films you may not usually be interested in. There are hidden gems everywhere in our programming.

  • Reflect! Embrace discussion and talk about the films with other patrons of the festival. Everyone interprets art differently and reflection can enhance the experience.

  • Get to know our pass system! We have two different lines at our venues, Rush and Ticket Holder (Pre-reserved). Know where you want to be!
