We are looking for volunteers to join us for our 26th festival, taking place July 22–26, 2026 in Gimli!
As Manitoba’s premier film festival, GIFF is gearing up for another fantastic year and we’re looking for enthusiastic, community-minded volunteers to help bring the festival to life. Volunteer opportunities are available in:

Industry Session Responsibilities
Welcoming Guests
Setup - Moving Chairs and Preparing the stage
Events include Receptions, Filmmaker Mingle, etc
Greeting patrons
Checking passes and attendance
Serving experience
Tidying up after receptions
Strong communication between teammates

Hand out free drink tickets
Upstairs Johnson Hall catering staff
Check in

Co-creation of a positive, inclusive, and accessible environment
Communication with primary supervisor (specified on scheduling)
Adherence to volunteer dress code (t-shirt and name tag)
Adherence to confidentiality policy
Emphasis on customer service
Open-minded approach to the art presented
Patience and respect in situations where stress may arise
Continuous improvement mindset
Discuss complaints or dissatisfaction discretely with supervisor especially when festival attendees are present

Sell tickets, passes, raffle, and merchandise
Box office tech (iPads, card readers)
Share information about the festival and films (Info hub)
Greeting patrons of the festival

Work with Venue Coordinator to create great experience
Greeting patrons
Helping to usher those who need it (In and out)
Keeping track of patrons and monitoring capacity
Handling ticket purchases
Using the scanner to admit patrons
Controlling lines and communicating who goes where (RUSH vs Ticket Holder)
Stand by and enjoy the films at your venue!
Rush Seating = patron needs to purchase a ticket, patron has a pass and has not pre-reserved a seat.
Will start admitting Rush Seating 15 minutes before show begins
Ticket holder seating = those who have purchased a ticket or pre-reserved a seat using their pass. (must be done by 5 p.m. on the day prior to screening)

All volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 12 hours during the festival. In return, you’ll receive:
