The 15th Annual RBC $15,000 Emerging Filmmakers Pitch Competition NOW OPEN
Gimli, Manitoba, May 15 2026 — Submissions are now open for the 15th annual RBC Emerging Filmmakers Pitch Competition, taking place Saturday, July 25 during the Gimli International Film Festival (GIFF).
Following last year’s expansion to a $15,000 production grant, the competition continues to provide early-career filmmakers with the strategic funding and industry connections needed to make their first short film.
Presented by RBC, in partnership with Film Training Manitoba and hosted by GIFF, the program includes in-kind and mentorship support ranging from equipment rentals and studio access to training, administrative support, industry mentorship and a premiere screening.
On July 25, filmmakers will pitch their short film concepts live to a jury and public audience, with the winning project receiving production support from across Manitoba’s media production sector.
Last year’s winner, Ande Brown, returns to GIFF this summer with the world premiere of Half-Naked, the project he pitched in 2025.
Applications open May 15. The deadline to apply is June 15. For full details and eligibility, visit: gimlifilm.com/rbc-emerging-artist
